Create Simple Bill of Lading

A simplified bill of lading creation option is available from the Bills of Lading tab within the Freight Invoice card.

This option is intended for cases where full bill of lading functionality is not required and only the presence of a bill of lading is needed. It allows creation without filling in a large number of mandatory fields and avoids working with the full bill of lading form.

Simple Creation Form

When a bill of lading is created using the simplified form, several fields are automatically populated from the freight invoice used as the source:

  • Date → freight invoice date.

  • Loading Port → first loading port from the freight invoice.

  • Discharge Port → first discharge port from the freight invoice.

  • Cargo → first cargo from the freight invoice.

  • Voyage → freight invoice voyage.

  • Payer → freight invoice payer.

  • Client → freight invoice client.

The last three fields (Voyage, Payer, Client) are not displayed in the simplified creation form. They are available in the main Bill of Lading card (see Bill of Lading Object card).
These fields can be changed only after opening the bill of lading from the list of objects.

Editing Behavior

The simplified creation form is used only for creating bills of lading.
After creation, the bill of lading can be viewed and edited only in the main Bill of Lading card by opening it:

Cargo Record Creation

For a bill of lading created using the simplified form, a single cargo record is created automatically (visible in the Cargo tab of the main Bill of Lading card):

  • Cargo Type field → filled with the Cargo value from the simplified form.

  • Gross Weight field → filled with the Quantity value from the simplified form.

  • Rate Type field → set to Tons by default.

Date Field Mapping

The Date field from the simplified creation form is used to populate:

  • Issue Date field;

  • Shipped On Board Date field.

All other related fields are filled accordingly based on the available data.
