This section provides a list of terms and conventions used in the Voyage Module, complete with detailed explanations and definitions.

  1. Bunkering

    A general term for refueling and tracking fuel on board a vessel. The term originates from the era of steam engines, when a “bunker” referred to a coal storage container on a steamship.

  2. Daily Report, DR

    A report on the vessel’s status (including information about its location, fuel quantity, and consumption, etc.), typically prepared by the captain and sent to the shipowner or operator. DR is sent once a day or during significant events (e.g., arrival at the destination port, vessel bunkering).

  3. Debunkering

    The intentional removal of fuel that has already been loaded onto the vessel.

  4. ETA, Estimated Time of Arrival

    The expected time of a vessel’s arrival at a port.

  5. ETD, Estimated Time of Departure

    The expected time of a vessel’s departure from a port.

  6. HSFO, High Sulphur Fuel Oil

    Heavy fuel oil with a high sulfur content (up to 3.5%).

  7. IFO, Intermediate Fuel Oil

    A series of grades of heavy fuel oil.

  8. LSMGO, Low Sulphur Marine Gasoil

    Light fuel with a low sulfur content (below 0.1%).

  9. Notice of Delivery, NoD

    A type of daily report representing the act of delivering/ receiving a vessel under charter. It records the fuel being transferred or sold (along with the sale price). There can only be one NoD per voyage.

  10. Notice of Redelivery, NoR

    A type of daily report representing the act of returning a vessel from charter. It records the fuel being received or purchased (along with the purchase price).

  11. Port Call

    The ingress of a vessel entering a port.

  12. Rest On Board, ROB

    The amount of a specific type of fuel remaining on board the vessel at a given time.

  13. ULSFO, Ultra Low Sulphur Fuel Oil

    A blend of fuel oil and distillates with an ultra-low sulfur content (no more than 0.1%).

  14. Units On Board, UOB

    The count of containers on board. The total count of containers is displayed, followed by a slash and the count of empty containers (e.g., Total Containers/ Empty Containers).

  15. VLSFO, Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil

    A blend of fuel oil and distillates with a reduced sulfur content (no more than 0.5%).

  16. Voyage

    The movement of a vessel along a specific route (defined by a sequence of planned port calls) within a set timeframe.
