Parse Estimate

The Parse Estimate action imports a voyage into a deal based on an estimate file. During parsing, the system extracts voyage parameters and preliminary income and expense estimates.

Process Overview

  1. The system prompts for an estimate file.

  2. After the file is selected, a parsing window opens.

The interface is divided into two main areas:

    • File Preview — Displays the imported estimate file.

    • Parsed Data — Displays structured voyage information and estimates extracted from the file.

  3. The extracted data can be reviewed and adjusted before saving.

  4. After confirmation, the system creates a voyage together with the parsed income and expense estimates.

Voyage Parameters

The following voyage parameters are defined during parsing.

  • Vessel: The vessel used for the voyage. The system attempts to identify the vessel automatically based on the Vessel Name, DWT, and Year Built.

    • If a vessel with matching parameters is not found in the system, it must be selected manually.

  • First Port ETA: Arrival date to the first port of the voyage.

  • First Port ETD: Departure date from the first port.

Ports and Voyage Transitions

Below the voyage parameters, the Ports list is displayed.

Each record represents a port call that will later become a Voyage Transition in the Voyage Module.

The following values are extracted from the estimate file:

  • Days at Port: Time spent in the port.

  • Days to Next Port: Sailing time to the next port.

  • Port Call Type: Determined automatically based on the operation specified in the file.

A port record can be opened for editing by double-clicking the row, where the parsed values can be reviewed or adjusted.

Voyage Schedule Calculation

The First Port ETA and First Port ETD values define the starting point for calculating the entire voyage schedule.

After entering the dates, click the button.

The system calculates ETA and ETD for all subsequent ports using:

  • Time spent in port (Days at Port);

  • Sailing duration (Days to Next Port).

Parsed Estimates

The estimate file is converted into income and expense records displayed in the Income and Outcome lists.

Income List

Income entries are created from estimate records marked as Total Net Freight. The system creates an income record with the following parameters:

  • Type → Freight.

  • Estimated: Estimated freight amount in the basis currency.

Outcome List

Expense estimates are grouped into several categories and converted into deal expense records.
